THE CITY OF MONROVIA COMMUNITY GALLERY

The Artist Alley gallery program is a partnership between the City of Monrovia Community Services Department and Monrovia Association of Fine Arts. Artist Alley will feature the work of juried MAFA member artists on display and for sale on a three-month rotating installation basis. All the new show artist receptions will feature wine, refreshments, and live music.

Interested buyers can purchase art (via check only) at the front desk of the Community Center. Purchased items will be tagged as sold and the proud new owners may take the art home at the end of the current three-month show. MAFA will receive these proceeds and pay the artists whose work is sold, minus a modest 20% commission. If you are interested in displaying and selling your work for three months at a time in this gallery, you must be an active MAFA Artist Member (dues paid up until at least the end of your three-month installation) and you must sign the Gallery Agreement Form (which is available for download at monroviafinearts.org/gallery.

To renew your MAFA membership, just go to monroviafinearts.org/join and follow the instructions on that page.

If you are new to MAFA and want to display your work in the Gallery, you will need to sign up as an Artist Member at monroviafinearts.org/join. You will need to

  • Pay a $36.00 annual membership fee
  • Pay a $25.00 one-time, non-refundable jury fee

Submit three images of your work to frazgo@monroviafinearts.org for consideration by our jury committee, who will advise you whether or not your work has been accepted and you may become an active MAFA member.

ARTIST EXHIBIT SUBMISSION INFORMATION

To participate in the Artist Alley Gallery at the Monrovia Community Center, please review the following requirements and then download and sign the City of Monrovia Art Loan Agreement below:

  • Each artist must be a juried member of the Monrovia Association of Fine Arts
  • All fine art media welcome.
  • All hanging pieces are to have D-rings securely attached.
  • All pieces must be submitted between 2 and 4 pm on the Take-In day, which is the Friday two days before the gallery opening event on Sunday afternoon. No early or late submittals will be accepted.
  • Artwork shall be original artwork by the artist.
  • Subject matter should be acceptable for display in the public environment of the Community Center which includes minors. All decisions of the MAFA Gallery Coordinator in this matter are final.
  • MAFA retains a tax-deductible donation of 20% on all gallery sales.
  • Artists agree to leave all gallery pieces in place for the entire length of the 3-month installation.
